NO OTHER GOD!

Isaiah 44:6-8 (NASB 1995) Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides Me. Who is like Me? Let him proclaim and declare it; yes, let him recount it to Me in order, from the time that I established the ancient nation. And let them declare to them the things that are coming and the events that are going to take place. Do not tremble and do not be afraid; have I not long since announced it to you and declared it? And you are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me, or is there any other Rock? I know of none.

Knowing that there is no other God should bring you great confidence. How can you be sure? Because He said so, and He is not a man that He should lie. We believe that God is. That is what the book of Hebrews says is the beginning of your faith. I really, really like today’s scriptures. There is no God besides Him. He doesn’t know of any. If He doesn’t know of any, then I don’t know of any. The Lord boldly challenges anyone, “If you think you are like Me, then declare it; let us all know about it.” Was that a challenge to the devil?

So many people think the devil is opposite of the Lord. Let me say this, to be opposite, you must be co-equal. God has no equal. Isaiah 40:18 says, “To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare unto Him?” You can’t even compare the devil to God. The devil was a created being named Lucifer, an angel who fell because iniquity and pride were found in him. The devil, obviously, does do opposite things of the Lord. Jesus said that the enemy steals, kills, and destroys. The devil is bad, and God is good, but never forget that God has no equal, and the devil is not opposite or equal to God.

We see the Almighty boldly proclaim, “I am the first and the last.” This is one of the first things Jesus said to John, which is recorded in the book of Revelations. Jesus said He was the first and the last, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. That is who God is. Make absolutely no mistake about it, God, the Almighty God, stands alone; there is none besides Him, and there is none like Him. What does knowing that do for you? Verse 8 tells you. It says, “Do not tremble and do not be afraid.” When you know who Father God really is, it will bring you great confidence that the God who stands alone, who is the first and the last, is your Heavenly Father. He boldly declares to you that He is the Rock. Why the rock? Because you can build your life on Him. You can put all your trust in Him. When you know this God, the only God, you have the one and only God on your side. The Almighty God is your Father and there is no reason for you to be afraid!
