Your "THERE" Place

1 Kings 17:4 (NKJV) “And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”

I am remembering a sermon the Lord gave me: "A Place Called THERE." It was from a time in the prophet Elijah's life and ministry (1 Kings 17). Verses 3 and 4 say, "Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee THERE."

I saw very clearly that the provision Elijah needed was only going to be found at one place, the brook Cherith, and not at the Jordan or the Red Sea or any other place of Elijah's choosing. There was only one place where thew ravens were going to show up with food, and that was at the brook Cherith.

I find so many people frustrated today because they feel like God has let them down or that their faith may not be working, but really, you and I know that God can never fail, and that our faith will work because we have all been given "the measure of faith" (Romans 12:3). The Lord prayed for Peter that his faith wouldn’t fail (Luke 22:32), and even though Peter had that whole denial issue, he ended up at the right place at the right time doing the right thing. I know that our faith will not fail if we hold fast to the promises of God. We just need to be like Peter and let the Lord restore us too, so we can get to our divine appointments, just like Peter did.

Being in our place called “THERE” is so very important because it means we are in obedience to the will of God for our lives. James 4:13-17 is very clear that we cannot say, "I am going to this city or that city and do this or do that." James 4:15 says, "For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that." This verse is not talking about living or dying. It is talking about where you live and what you do. We are no longer our own because we have been bought with a price, so we must find out the will of God for our lives. It is the same as what the Lord told Elijah: I have a specific place for you, and if you are there, you will get supernatural provision.

How do you know where “THERE” is for you? If the Lord requires you to be at a special place, then He will tell you. You are His sheep, and you know His voice. With His voice, and by the knowings of your heart, He will guide you to your “THERE” place. He would never require you to be at a specific place that He would not tell you about.

If things are not going well, check in with headquarters and make sure you are in your “THERE” place for your life in every area of your life; i.e., job, residence, serving place, etc. Remember, just because things are challenging doesn't mean you’re in the wrong place. God wants to provide for you in a supernatural way, so make sure your ravens aren't going somewhere else.

We must ask ourselves, "Am I in full obedience?" If we are, then we are at our “THERE” place, and we can expect supernatural provision. Continue to use your faith, and your provision will keep its appointment!

Does the place called “THERE” ever change? It did for Elijah. The brook dried up, and the Lord moved him on to another “THERE” place. 1 Kings 17:9 says, "Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell THERE: behold, I have commanded a widow woman THERE to sustain thee."

I have found there are seasons and different emphases the Lord has for us in our lives. I believe that the Lord will always have “THERE” places in your life. The perfect will of God is an awesome place. The “THERE” place God has for you is full of peace and supernatural provision.

Over my years of ministry, I have watched people get out of their “THERE” place. It costs! The good news is you can always get back in it. I know from this Old Testament example, it is a literal place. It might be the same for some of you, but what I want us all to think about is, "Am I in my ‘THERE’ place spiritually?" Are we in our “THERE” place spiritually, at work, with our family, in our church, etc.?

It is important that you are “THERE” because that is where the Lord will provide for you supernaturally.
