There Is an Escape Route

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

Let’s start with, “God is faithful.” He can be trusted. If He said something, then you know it is true, and He will do what He said.

We have to realize that everyone is tempted. We all go through temptations, and even though people go through different things, we are all tempted because we all have a flesh. It is also good to know that no matter what you are going through, you are not the only one who has gone through it or is going through it. You are not so special that this thing has only happened to you or that no one else can understand it. That is a lie from the devil to further isolate you. Remember, if the devil can isolate you, he can destroy you.

I love the next part in the King James that says, “He will not allow.” If God says He will not allow, then He will not allow it. What won’t He allow? He won’t allow you to be tempted beyond what you can endure. The Amplified Classic says, “No temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance,” so if you are being tempted with something, you can endure it, or He wouldn’t have said it.

And no matter what is tempting you, as a born-again believer, you can get out of it. That’s not so for unbelievers because their fallen nature will cause them not to be able to resist it. But believers have been born of God, so any temptation that comes our way, according to the Word, we are well able to resist it.

Now, I didn’t say you won’t feel like you can’t resist it. It may be tormenting or mind-boggling, but you can resist it. God said that He wouldn’t allow something to come to you that you couldn’t resist and escape from, so that means you can get out of it.

We were not made to push down lust and sin in our lives. We were not meant to cover it up and just deal with it. We were meant to resist it and escape from it.

Take the exit ramp and get out of it, in Jesus’ name!
