Hears and Understands

Matthew 13:23 “But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty.”

Hearing the Word of God is only the beginning of what is necessary to produce the fruit from the Word of God in our lives. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. The key in this verse is the Greek for “word,” which is rhema. We need to get a Rhema Christos, which is a word that comes alive, that is revelation, that comes from hearing the anointed Word of God.

This scripture says we must understand what we have heard in order to get the harvest. “Understanding” in this passage is not understanding with your mind, but is in reference to having a revelation. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened (Ephesians 1:18) is a key to your bringing forth fruit from the Word of God.

You must renew your mind and change your thinking. It is vital, but faith is received in the heart, and revelation happens in your spirit, not your mind. Thank God the Holy Spirit, the teacher and revealer of truth, lives on the inside of each born-again believer. I pray that your understanding will be flooded with light as you listen to the Word of God and study every day of your life.
