The Lust of Other Things

Mark 4:19 “And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

What is the lust of other things? I think the important thing to define is the word “lust.” To lust is to have an intense desire for something. Lust is not just sexual. It is an unhealthy appetite for something, and it can become consuming. The flesh lusts for things.

It was part of the original sin. Eve desired the fruit, and the lust of her flesh got the better of her, and it actually choked out what God said, “Don’t eat of the fruit of the tree.”

The world we are living in right now has got to be the most intense time ever for the flesh. How do we deal with the lusts of our flesh? The Bible says, “If you walk in the Spirit, you will not fulfill the lusts of your flesh.” If we yield to the lusts of our flesh, we will get into sin. And in this subject, whether we realize it or not, we are adding weeds to our soil, which will cause us not to be able to produce the results from the seed of the Word of God sown.

What should we do? Walk in the Spirit, resist the lusts of our flesh, and maintain our soil.
