Trust God, Not Riches

1 Timothy 6:17-18 - Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded. First of all, I Timothy is an Epistle written to the Church. The rich people he is talking to are church people. Jesus became poor so you could become rich. You have been redeemed from poverty into wealth. So, these are instructions to rich church people on how to handle the wealth God sent and is sending.

We must stay humble. Humility is a huge key in walking in God’s prosperity. God has given you grace to be rich. Look at all of II Corinthians 8, and it teaches on this grace to prosper. Never be arrogant and think that prosperity came from you or your ability. Every good thing comes from the Father of lights.

There can only be one God in your life. You cannot serve God and money (Luke 16:13). Therefore, you cannot trust God and money or what you can do for yourself. Making decisions based on finances alone is being money minded. We must choose to make our decisions in life by trusting only God. What does that look like? Follow the Word and do it. Pray until you know what to do and do it. Put your complete trust in God.
