Do Not Waver

Matthew 14:29-30 - So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Peter walked on the water with one Word from God, “Come.” He walked on the water until he took his eyes off the Word and Jesus and began to look at the storm. That halting between the two caused him to sink. Do you feel like you’re sinking? A cry to the Lord will help. I believe a “Help me Jesus!” will save you. God’s mercy saves us, but in order to walk on the water, it takes faith; and wavering will always cause you to sink.

What caused Peter to sink? Did Jesus change His mind? Did Peter realize it didn’t work? Did the storm get too strong? None of these are true. When Peter became afraid, then he began to sink. What brought the fear? It was when he saw the wind boisterous. Wasn’t the wind already blowing? Weren’t there already waves? Yes, this was all happening before Peter asked to come on the water. What happened? What caused the fear? It was when Peter began to give the circumstances more attention than the Word. What you consider, what you think on, what you give precedence to, this is what determines what you will have.

In Romans 4:19, the Bible says Abraham didn’t consider his own body, now dead, nor the deadness of Sarah’s womb. You and I are always considering something. What then did Abraham consider? What was his mind on? He was only considering one thing and one outcome. God said about this time next year you will have a son and name him Isaac. In order to receive from God, you can only have God’s mindset. Otherwise, you become unstable and cannot receive from the Lord.
