PROTECTION AND DELIVERANCE
Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
The fear of the Lord, the reverence of the Almighty, and standing in awe of our Creator have many benefits. The interesting thing about God is we should be doing these things, reverencing Him and honoring Him, even without benefits, but God just can’t help Himself; He is a giver. Today’s verse says that if we fear the Lord, it is a fountain of life. What kind of life? The kind of life that God has to give, the Zoe, the God kind and quality of life. It is an abundant life; it is a good life. It is the life of Jesus, the life that He gave to us, because He is the way, the truth, and the life. What a promise, what a benefit that the Father offers to us.
The promise goes on to say that those who fear the Lord have the promise of being delivered from the snares of death. Who is the author of death? The devil himself; therefore, we are promised to be delivered from the devil and from death. We have promises of deliverance from all the devil ever tries to do to us. God has delivered us, does deliver us, and will always deliver us. Even Psalm 91 promises that the angels will deliver us and protect us. Psalm 34:7 says, “The angel of the Lord encamps round about them that fear Him and delivereth them.” Because we fear and honor the Lord, even His mighty angels surround us and protect us and deliver us, even from death. Praise God! Just because we fear the Lord and reverence Him, these benefits kick in. It is good to know that because I honor Him, He will send His angels to protect me.
Psalm 145:19 says, “He will fulfill the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry and will save them.” He will fulfill our desires, and He will save us. One of the things we need saved from is when we get in trouble and need protection. The key is that we must fear Him, honor Him, and reverence Him. When we do this, the promise of being saved, delivered in every area, even being delivered from death, includes us. Thank God, He delivers us from all our troubles.
