INCREASE YOU MORE AND MORE
Psalm 115:13–14 He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great. The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
Notice this promise is not for everyone; it is for a certain group of people. A lot of people don’t like it when you tell them that the blessings and promises of God come with conditions. These conditions, when met, come with a promise. You might say, “I thought that since we were born again, we were under grace, so now everything Jesus purchased is mine and I don’t have to work for it.” Obeying God’s Word is not work; working is when you are trying to please God with the labors of your flesh. Obedience to God’s Word is not works. Now that we have that established, this verse says that when we fear the Lord, He will bless the small and the great. That’s all of us who fear Him. What is fearing the Lord? It is respecting Him, honoring Him, and it is standing in awe of Him. There is no one like Him, and there is no one besides Him. When you realize that, you will have a holy awe of Him. That is fearing the Lord!
Psalm 34:9 says, “Fear the Lord, you his servants: for there is no want to them that fear Him.” If you really do honor and fear Him, and you can’t fake it, then the Word promises you that you will have no want in your life. Our verse says the Lord will increase you more and more. It is not a one-time thing, but as you fear Him, it will affect the financial area of your life, and not just you, but your children also. When a believer has true fear of the Lord, it will show up in their finances.
What is also interesting is Deuteronomy 14:22–23 talks about tithing and fearing the Lord. These verses talk about the tithe teaching you to fear the Lord. Isn’t it interesting that God says, if you fear Me, you will tithe? That makes sense because the tithe is honoring God, which is a form of reverence and fear. So, people who despise talking about the tithe are really saying, “I don’t agree with God; the tithe is not about reverence, it’s about money.” This shows their heart in a very dramatic fashion. Knowing this truth, I would tithe even if there were no benefits because I want to honor, respect, and revere my Holy Father, the Almighty.
Let’s honor and fear Him and watch the increase come to us and our children. We really are blessed to be a blessing!
