Power brings patient endurance

Colossians 1:11 (AMPC) “[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy.”

One of the byproducts of God’s glory in your life, both inside you and His power upon you, is it produces something. His glory in you produces endurance and patience.

You and I have need of patience, that after we have done the will of God, we can receive the promise (Hebrews 10:36), which is talking about running and finishing our course. The reason some people do not finish their course is because they don’t have patient endurance. In order to finish, this is not something you can do without.

If I know I need patience to finish my course, then I must find out how to get it. One way to get patience, so it can do its work, is by getting into and experiencing the glory of God. That glory produces something in our lives. It produces patience. When you have patience, then you will be able to persevere.

When you get in God’s glory, the patience you receive will enable you to bear anything that this life and the devil bring your way, so that you will not give up, but move forcefully toward the mark and the prize that awaits at the Judgement Seat of Christ.

The scripture does not say that if we get in God’s presence, the Lord will help you to put up with whatever the devil and life throw at you. It says you will have the ability to overcome and move through that season and keep going on your course.

I like the finish of this particular verse because it says, “with joy.” We can do it with joy! To me, that means when I get in God’s presence, in His glory, when I stir up that glory within me, it is Christ in me the hope of glory; and His glory in me and on me will come with joy in the Holy Ghost, and we all know that the joy of the Lord is our strength.

What will that strength do? It will help us finish our course. The glory produces joy, which produces strength, which will help us finish our race. The glory will produce patience, which we need, so we can finish our course.

God’s ways are amazing.
