Wait on the Lord

Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

We all have a race to run. We are told to run our race, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Once again, we see the word “faint.” When someone faints, they lose consciousness for a minute. Their body usually goes limp, and they have no power.

The devil would love to overwhelm us all to the point of fainting, and to the point of having no power to continue our journey because he wants to rob us of hearing, “Well done.” This course we are on sometimes seems like we are on a walk. Doing life as we walk with God just like Noah and Enoch did, but a walk that will produce some amazing results. Then, at other times, we feel like we are running with all we have.

It is during these running seasons that you will have to make sure you don’t lose your strength and endurance. During both of these seasons, it is important to wait upon the Lord, but especially in a running season.

What must we do? We must wait upon the Lord. What does that mean? I know this, it is not inactivity. It is not doing nothing. It is not passive. The word “wait” means to exchange. We give God what we have, and He can then give us what He has. What a great trade, beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning.

We bring Him something, whatever is going on in life while we are running our course, and He is able to give us what He has. As we exchange our strength for His, something supernatural happens. We get this extra push from Him, so we can mount up with wings as eagles. These wings seem to help us fly with God.

This extra supernatural help causes us to be able to run without weariness. We are able to keep on walking and not faint; and we don’t exhaust our power because it is no longer our power, but God’s power we are walking in.

When we live waiting on the Lord, we are enabled by His grace and glory, and His power is available so we can mount up on it and fly through situations in our lives. So, what should we do more of? Wait on the Lord!
