Peace

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

Peace is something every human being needs. There are things around us that constantly and consistently want to destroy our peace. The devil brings turmoil and tribulation. Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation,” and that’s because the devil will see to it, and just living on the Earth will cause all types of tribulations.

Those tribulations come because of people’s decisions around us. Those tribulations come because of poor decisions we make. Those tribulations come because of things out of our hands.

The great news is that Jesus came, and He came with peace. He told us to cheer up, put a smile on it, and walk in joy because He has overcome the world and the god of this world by implication. Jesus destroyed the one who has the power to disturb and disrupt our peace. We are meant to walk in perfect peace; and Jesus has given us that right by leaving His very own peace with us.

John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Jesus Himself is known as the Prince of Peace in Isaiah 9:6-7. The Word says of His peace there shall be no end!

Jesus brought us this peace, and there are some keys to walking in the peace that He left us. First, we must keep our mind stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3). That tells me that the mind is where we can win or lose our peace. When we let our mind look at the circumstances and the problems, it brings the feelings of worry and then fear. We must learn to cast our cares upon the Lord.

Second, in order to stay in peace, we must deny ourselves the right to worry or fret about anything. Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Just doing these two things in your soul realm will help you stay in perfect peace. So, we have to make up our mind to keep our thoughts on the Word and allow no worry in our soul.

As a matter of fact, in Romans 8:6 it says this, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” That settles it for me. I am keeping my mind on and in the Word of God because I want peace! How about you?
