Day 29 | communion
Passover: The Application
Day 29 of At His Table moves from understanding the power of the blood to considering how we respond to it. Just as the Israelites used hyssop to apply the Passover blood to their doorposts, today's devotional presents our words and testimony as a way of personally agreeing with what the blood of Jesus has accomplished.
Revelation 12 describes Satan as the accuser, but it also reveals how believers overcome: “by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Today's message uses the picture of a courtroom to illustrate this truth. While the accuser points toward sin, the blood of Jesus provides greater evidence—our debt has been paid, we have been cleansed, and Christ's finished work has made us righteous before God.
But the passage doesn't stop with the blood; it also mentions our testimony. Our words don't add anything to what Jesus accomplished, but they can come into agreement with it. As you take communion today, consider what you're saying about yourself, your past, and what Christ has done for you. Day 29 encourages us to let our testimony agree with the blood, confidently declaring the victory Jesus has already won on our behalf.
