Day 27 | communion
Passover: The Lamb
Day 27 of At His Table looks back to Israel's deliverance from Egypt to reveal a powerful picture of the freedom Jesus provides. The Israelites lived under relentless oppression, carrying burdens they could not escape on their own. In today's devotional, Egypt becomes a picture of the bondage of sin—and Jesus is revealed as our Passover Lamb who came to set us free.
Through Christ, the weight and oppression of sin no longer have to rule our lives. Jesus took that burden upon Himself so that we could become new creations and experience a new kind of life in Him. But just as the Israelites sometimes longed to return to Egypt after being delivered, we must choose not to return to the very things Christ has freed us from. Freedom isn't an invitation to look backward; it's an opportunity to move forward into the life God has provided.
As you take communion today, let the bread and the cup remind you of the freedom Jesus purchased for you. You have been brought out of darkness and into His kingdom, no longer defined by the bondage of your past. Day 27 invites us to remember what our Passover Lamb accomplished and confidently move forward in the freedom He has provided.
