Day 21 | communion

The Nails

Day 21 of At His Table turns our attention to the nails that pierced the hands and feet of Jesus. Isaiah 53 tells us that He was pierced for our transgressions, but today's devotional invites us to consider something even more personal: Jesus knew exactly who He was suffering for.

The hands and feet pierced on the cross belonged to the One who had loved humanity from the beginning. Jesus knew Peter would deny Him, Judas would betray Him, and the crowds would reject Him—and He still chose the cross. In the same way, He knew every failure, weakness, and mistake we would ever make before He gave His life for us. Nothing about us has ever surprised Him or caused Him to regret His sacrifice.

As you take communion today, consider not only the unimaginable physical pain Jesus endured, but the depth of love that carried Him through rejection, betrayal, and suffering. He knew us even when we didn't know Him, and He loved us through it all. Day 21 reminds us of a remarkable truth: we are fully known by Jesus and still fully loved.
