Day 20 | communion
The Stripes
Day 20 of At His Table turns our attention to the stripes Jesus endured before the cross. Isaiah 53:5 reminds us that He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities, and that the punishment for our peace was placed upon Him. His suffering was not without purpose—Jesus willingly gave His body and took our place.
Today's devotional reflects on the severity of Christ's wounds and what they reveal about His love for us. Jesus is not distant from human pain and suffering. He experienced tremendous physical agony Himself, and through His sacrifice, He opened the way for us to be reconciled to the Father. His wounds point us toward forgiveness, freedom from sin, restoration, and healing.
As you take communion today, allow the bread and the cup to remind you of what Jesus willingly endured on your behalf. His stripes tell the story of a Savior who entered into suffering so that we could experience restoration and wholeness through Him. Day 20 invites us to receive this truth personally and remember the powerful promise of Scripture: “By His stripes, we are healed.”
