He Took the Cup

Day 16 of At His Table reflects on the new covenant Jesus established through His sacrifice. At the Last Supper, Jesus took the cup and declared that His blood would confirm the covenant between God and His people—a covenant of forgiveness purchased at an unimaginable price.

Today's devotional offers a powerful picture of what happened at Calvary: the terms of the covenant were, in a sense, carved into the body of Jesus, and His own blood became the signature that sealed it. Every wound testified to what He was accomplishing for us, and every drop of blood demonstrated the depth of a love that can be difficult to fully comprehend.

As you take communion today, allow the bread and the cup to remind you that God's covenant isn't an empty promise. It was secured through the body and blood of Christ. Day 16 invites us to look at the cross and hear its message personally: you are deeply loved. Communion becomes an opportunity to receive that truth again and respond with gratitude to the Savior who gave everything to bring us into covenant with God.
