Sanctify Myself

Day 14 of At His Table explores what Jesus meant when He said, “For their sake, I sanctify Myself.” Because Jesus was already holy and without sin, sanctification in this passage isn't about Him becoming more holy. Instead, it reveals His decision to completely set Himself apart—to fully dedicate His life to accomplishing the Father's will.

From the upper room to the Garden of Gethsemane and ultimately the cross, Jesus continually chose complete surrender. Even when facing the tremendous cost of redemption, His response remained, “Not My will, but Yours be done.” His life demonstrates that being set apart for God isn't necessarily about isolation from others; it's about being wholly devoted to His purposes.

As you take communion today, reflect on both Christ's consecration and what His sacrifice made possible for you. Jesus set Himself apart to accomplish our redemption, and through Him, we have also been sanctified and set apart for God's use. Day 14 leaves us with a meaningful question to consider: What does it look like for us to live fully yielded to the Father's will?
