LIGHT VERSUS DARKNESS
John 3:19–21 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
In John 3:19–21, the Word explains even more about light versus darkness. The Light, Jesus, came into the world, but people loved darkness and its deeds more than they wanted the light. If they loved the light or the Word more, they would come to the light instead of staying in darkness.
When people walk in darkness, it is because the god of this world, Satan, has blinded them spiritually (2 Corinthians 4:4). They are, according to Isaiah 42:7, sitting in a prison house, blinded by the god of this world and sin.
We need to give the people who sit in prison spiritually the light of the gospel, the good news, with the same anointing upon the Body of Christ that was on Jesus. We can deliver the captives and set the prisoners free by sharing the good news.
The Word of God is a lamp (Psalm 119:105), and the entrance of God’s Word into someone will give them light and understanding (Psalm 119:130). We must pray for those who don’t have the light of the world. They don’t have a relationship with Jesus. We must pray for the eyes of their understanding to be enlightened so that they would know what Jesus has done for them (Ephesians 1:18).
It is time for a great number of people to come out of spiritual prison and see Jesus for who He really is. He is the way, the truth, and the life. He is the light of the world. He is their answer.
Help me shine the light of Jesus all over this area and around the world because now that you and I have that light, we are told not to hide it but to become a city set on a hill for all to see so that they too can have a relationship with your Savior and your Lord, Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:14–16).
