WALKING IN THE LIGHT

John 8:12 (NIV) …I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Jesus is talking about walking and where you walk concerning the realm of the spirit. If we walk in the light, then we will not walk in darkness.  1 John 1:6–7 says, “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

Walking with God is being in fellowship with God; and if we are truly walking with Him, then we are walking in the light and not the darkness. The Word says there is no darkness in Him; He is the light.

In order to truly fellowship, we must walk in the light, which is walking in the revelation of the Word of God. The Word of God is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. The entrance of His Word brings light and understanding, so we must get light. We must get revelation of the Word of God because that is light.

We pray for ourselves and others that the eyes of our understanding would be flooded with light. One of the major keys to walking with God is walking in the light of the Word of God. When you do that, you not only enhance your fellowship, or the closeness of your walk with God, but you will also receive the benefit of continual cleansing by the blood of Jesus.

Can we tell if we are really walking with God? Yes, because we will be walking in the light and not participating or walking in darkness. Can we tell the difference between light and darkness? Sure. Walking in darkness is scary because you cannot see where you are going, so it is easy to bump into things and even trip over stuff. The light makes it easy to see and causes you to miss the obstacles.

Let us walk in the light and have great fellowship with the Father.
