TO US-WARD WHO BELIEVE

Ephesians 1:19–20 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places.

This power, or dunamis in the Greek, was for us and is now in us. The Amplified Classic says it this way, “And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe…”

That greatest display of power was, first of all, for us. It was for us because we were lost, bound by the devil, away from the Father. We had an old nature that was linked to hell, and we could not help ourselves. We needed someone to break us free. Then came Jesus and the Holy Ghost.

This greatest power ever extended by God was for us so we could choose to break free of Satan’s dominion in our lives. It was going to take power to free us once and for all. This resurrection power was the answer to our bondage, but that was not the only thing that happened.

This power also came in us as we believed in the resurrection of Jesus. That same power that raised Jesus from the dead moved inside us by the Holy Ghost. This overwhelming dunamis of God was for us and now resides in us.

That is why we can confidently say, “Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” It is Christ in you, the hope of glory!
