FATHER GOD
2 Corinthians 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
I like this scripture when it comes to talking about us being sons and daughters because it ends with saying, “the Lord Almighty.” God is the Almighty, and He did not have to choose us to be His children. He could have left us alone in our sin. He could have left us as servants, but no, He decided to send His Son so we could become His sons and daughters. What a God, what a Father He is!
Another amazing scripture is found in John 20:17. It refers to Jesus’ resurrection and interaction with Mary. I like it in the Amplified when Jesus says, “Do not cling to Me.” The King James says, “Touch me not.” Jesus was telling Mary, “I cannot stay here; I must finish my assignment.” Jesus said that because He still needed to put His blood on the Mercy Seat. He said to her, “I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” Jesus was saying that at that very moment God had become our Father and not just His Father.
Because of Jesus, we became sons and daughters. Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:5–7 tell us that we were adopted into the family of God. I like the fact that the Word tells us we were adopted. When someone adopts you, they do it on purpose. They give you their name and make you equal, even though you are not biologically their child. They are saying, “It does not matter that you are not biologically mine; I choose you as mine. You are totally my child with all the rights and privileges of a natural child.”
Those verses go on to say that because of that, we can cry out, “Abba, Father” or “Daddy God.” Wow! The Almighty God is my Father. Jesus is my elder Brother. I am a joint heir with the Lord Jesus Christ. Can life get any better than this? Yes, it can, because when I leave the Earth, I am going to Heaven forever! Thank you, Abba!
