Reaching Forth
Philippians 3:13 (KJV)
“…and reaching forth unto those things which are before.”
When you reach for something in front of you, there is effort involved. As a matter of fact, the picture should be in your mind of something ahead so valuable that you are willing to make every effort to get there. If anything gets in your way, you will move it or go around it.
I have my eyes on Jesus. I have set my affections on things above. I have changed the direction of my focus. I am no longer looking behind me; I am only looking in front of me. Everything in my life is now and future. I am living in the now. Because now faith is, I am not focused on anything except pleasing God every day of my life.
If you have to take it to this level: I am obeying God for this hour, for this minute. As you break it down, you can do it. It will keep you focused. We have a habit of biting off more than we can chew. I know sometimes people want to have this great life and obey God, but they seem to have failure after failure. What’s the cure? Taking it in smaller bites.
To live every day for God, you must first live every hour of every day for God. If you need to break it down further, do it. Whatever it takes, let us reach for the promises that God has set before us. It is all ahead of us and nothing behind us.
