THE NAME OF JESUS
Luke 1:31 (NKJV)
“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.”
There is one name that has changed everything! It divides time, B.C. and A.D. That name is either loved and reverenced or hated and rejected. The name of Jesus is the most beautiful, wonderful, and powerful name ever given. That name was given by the Father to Mary according to Luke 1:31, “And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.”
In Philippians 2:9–11, it says that name was given to Him, and it is a name that is above every name. Everything must bow to that name in Heaven, Earth, and under the Earth (Hell itself). Jesus’ name is above every name. That means it is above cancer, divorce, poverty, and any and every name you can think of. Why?
When Jesus came to Earth, He showed us the will of the Father. When He did the works He did, the devil’s works were destroyed. When Jesus died on the cross, He went into Hell itself and destroyed the works of the devil once and for all. So, you could say Jesus’ name is so powerful because of conquest.
Colossians 2:15 says that Jesus destroyed the works of the devil. Jesus made a show of the devil and triumphed over him. He did this because of His death, burial, and resurrection. In Ephesians 1:21, it says that Jesus is far above all principalities, power, might, dominion, and every name that is named and will be named. There is nothing and no one who is above Jesus or His name. When you and I know these things by revelation, it will change who you are and what you allow to happen in your life.
You have been given authority to use the name of Jesus. The last thing Jesus said to the Apostles and to the church was to go in His name. The Lord taught the twelve and the seventy to use His name when they went out. While Jesus was still on the Earth, there was so much power in the delegated authority of His name. Remember, the seventy came back saying, “The devils were subject to us through Your name.”
We can see the miracle at the gate called Beautiful was wrought because of the name of Jesus.
Acts 3:16 says, “And his name through faith in his name has made this man strong...”
Acts 4:10 again declares that by the name of Jesus and faith in that name the man at the gate Beautiful received his healing.
You and I need to boldly declare the name of Jesus. When you speak that name, everything has to change. When you have a revelation of the name of Jesus, you can make what the enemy has put in your path disappear. Be bold! Use His name! It was given to you.
