ANSWER IT!
Mark 11:14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, no man eat fruit of thee hereafter forever. And his disciples heard it.
Whether you would say it like this or not, things talk to us. What I mean by that is, the tree was saying to Jesus,” I know I have leaves, so figs should be on me for you to eat, but so sorry; no figs for you.” The winds and the waves said to the disciples on the ship while Jesus lay sleeping in the back of the boat, “You are going to die, the waves will sink your ship, and you are going to die.” Has your checking account ever said anything to you? Like this, “You can’t pay all your bills; what are you going to do?” Your body? “Do you feel that? I’m sure it will kill you!” Yes, things can talk to us, just like the fig tree talked to Jesus, but notice what Jesus did. He answered it. He talked to a tree, and we better learn to talk to things too. If Jesus did it, and He is our example, then we should do exactly what He did. He talked to fig trees, storms, dead bodies, fevers, and demons; and you and I should do the same. He taught us to speak to mountains. He said that you must talk to them to come up by the root and move to the sea. So many people don’t get this, and they talk to God about their mountain instead of talking to their mountain about their God.
I think David is a great example of someone who answered it. Right after David was anointed to be King, before he took his place on the throne, he was tending his father’s sheep when his dad said to him, “Take some bread and cheese to your brothers up at the front where the war with the Philistines is happening.” When David got there, he saw Goliath, who had King Saul, his brothers, and the whole army trembling in fear. It seems the kingly anointing activated, and suddenly, David was saying, “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine who defies the armies of the living God?” The next thing we know is David was ready to fight with his sling shot and stones. Goliath mocked him and challenged him to try and make him afraid because Goliath was offended that this little boy was coming with a slingshot to take him down. But what happened next is a lesson you and I should never forget. David answered him.
David’s answer to the enemy is found in 1 Samuel 17:45-47. David said what he was going to do with the help of God Almighty, the one who had helped him kill the lion and the bear. David answered, “I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts, and this day the Lord will deliver you into my hands; I am going to cut your head off (with Goliath’s own sword) and give your dead carcass to the wild animals, so everyone on Earth will know there is a God in Israel.” That is how you answer an enemy. What is going to be your answer the next time the devil comes? Answer him!
