DAY AND NIGHT
Psalm 1:2 (AMPC) But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.
In order to get the most out of meditating on the Word of God, it has to be your delight, the center of your life. You live your life out by living the Word of God out in your life. So, when I meditate, or as the Amplified Classified brings out, I ponder and study day and night, I am giving myself to the Word of God every minute of the day. How do you do that? You live by the Word of God. How do you do that? You meditate, think on, ponder the Word of God all day. You can do this using a particular scripture, or as events come up in your day, you can ask yourself this question, “What does the Word of God say about this?” Find a scripture that answers that question and meditate on it.
For people who want to be successful and want things to turn out right, meditation is God’s answer to us. He told Joshua, “If you want to have good success and make your way successful, you will meditate” (Joshua 1:8). When you meditate on God’s Word, you begin to see yourself, like looking into a mirror, in the Word of God. You see yourself doing the Word, walking in the Word; you see yourself with the answer. This has to become a habit in our lives if we want God’s highest and best. The casual Christian won’t take the time to do this; they want everything quick and easy. Meditation of God’s Word daily will cause you to be like Joshua and possess your promised land. If it was easy, everyone would do it. The things of God need our full attention; and when we give God our full attention, wonderful things will happen for us.
