The Lord Rejoices Over You!

Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV) “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

This is one of my favorite scriptures because it so beautifully shows God’s heart toward His people. This verse captures both His power and His tenderness. The God we serve is the creator of all things, the Lord of Heaven’s armies, there is no one more powerful than Him. This is the God who saves us and protects us. Psalm 46:1says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” He doesn’t stand far off, He is right here, in our midst, fighting for us, saving us, and delighting in us. He doesn’t just protect us from a distance, He rejoices over us with gladness and sings over us with songs of love.

Imagine the Lord Himself singing over you and rejoicing over you! So often we get distracted and bogged down by the stress and the responsibilities of our life. We get so busy that we forget to spend time with God, then we wonder why we feel run down and worn out. Today I want you to find time, just five minutes, to sit in the quiet and meditate on this scripture. Really take the time to let it wash over you that right now, in this very moment, the One who created you is rejoicing over you. Let Him quiet you with His love and rejoice over Him as He rejoices over you!
