BE A TRUE WORSHIPPER
John 4:23-24 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
If there are true worshippers, then there are false worshippers and everything in between. One very big aspect of being a true worshipper is found in Matthew 15:8-9. God is after your heart, and if your heart is not towards God, Jesus said you worship in vain. He needs your words, but not without your heart being in it. When it comes to worship, you can do it in the flesh or in the spirit, but true worship comes from your born-again spirit, with help from the Holy Spirit. We contact God with our spirit, not with our body or our mind. Although your flesh may react to the presence of God, there is nothing you can do in your flesh that will bring God. Proverbs 20:27 says that the spirit of man is the candle of the Lord. When you know that worship is spirit to Spirit, it is then you will understand what true worship is.
In John 17:17, Jesus said His Word is truth. So, if we are going to give God true worship, it must be filled with His Word. Our personal worship and corporate worship should be full of God’s Word. When we sing songs, they should be full of God’s truth. As you thank God for Who He is, according to His Word, you are engaging in true worship. In 2 Chronicles 16:9, it says that the eyes of the Lord roam to and fro to show Himself strong to someone who’s heart is perfect towards him. The Father is looking for a heart connection. He wants all of you, including your heart. When He has your heart, He is able to do great things for you. It is beyond salvation; it is a relationship with your Creator, your Father, your God.
The conclusion Jesus is trying to get us to, is to lay aside any natural means of worshipping God. Like Paul said to the Galatians, “Oh, foolish Galatians (Cornerstonians), how is it you started in the spirit and now you want to be completed by works of the flesh?” Stay in the spirit and stay with the Word. Connect to God, the Father, from your spirit. Boldly approach Him in the Throne Room of Grace today with your worship.
