Take Your Dominion
Genesis 1:26 (KJV) “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
God's original plan for man can be found in the book of beginnings, Genesis. One thing is very clear: He told man to take dominion upon the earth. He told Adam and Eve to subdue the earth. He told them to rule and reign. When God gives an assignment, He gives the power to do it. Father God delegated His authority to Adam and Eve. He gave them dominion over all the earth and everything on it! The devil happened to have access to the earth, but Adam and Eve had been given authority over the devil. How do I know? They were given authority over every creeping thing on the earth, and the devil came in as a serpent. You all know what happened. The devil deceived Adam and Eve, and then mankind lost his authority, but Jesus came and took the authority that God had given man back. Jesus went into hell and took the keys; those keys represent authority. Jesus had them, and He gave them to us.
Now that Jesus has dethroned the enemy in our lives, it is time to get serious about using our authority. It is time to get serious about taking dominion in every area of our lives. First, you have to know your position. You have been raised together with Christ and seated in heavenly places in Him (Ephesians 2:6). The Bible says this about your spiritual position right now in Romans 5:17: “For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” You and I are seated in a heavenly seat from which we are to reign in this life because we have received authority from the Head of the Church.
The next thing you need to know is how to enforce your authority in your life. I believe one of the greatest weapons we have is the Name of Jesus. At that Name, everything has to bow. Use that Name by revelation and knowing that Jesus has conquered all just for you. Also, begin to bind and loose things. Sounds kind of funny, but the Bible says in Matthew 18:18, “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” The Amplified brings out that what is loosed or allowed in heaven is what you should loose in your life. What is bound or disallowed in heaven is what you should disallow in your life. How do you do that? You do it with your words and with your faith.
The last thing I want to remind you about is this: For your authority to work, you and I have to take the position Jesus took when He was on the earth. He said that He only did what He saw the Father do, and He only said what He heard the Father say. In other words, He was under the Father's authority. You and I can get our authority to work best when we are under the Father's authority as well. James 4:7: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” When you are submitted to God, you will walk in great authority. When you are submitted to God, the devil and his works cannot stay in your life. Use your authority and watch things change!
