Raised From the Dead!

Romans 6:4 (KJV) “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

The greatest display of God’s power that ever happened was when Jesus was raised from the dead (Ephesians 1:19–20). The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the most important part of the gospel message, for without the resurrection, there is no message. For the new birth to be activated in a person, they must believe Jesus was raised from the dead (Romans 10:9). That is why we celebrate the resurrection every year—because it is the key to a new life in Christ Jesus!

Water baptism is a symbol of death and resurrection. When we go under the water, it symbolizes our death with Christ. Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live…” The old man was crucified with Him. You must know the old you is dead—consider it crucified. You must continue to crucify your flesh and keep it under.

This is the first step to freedom from sin: realizing you are dead, and that you are now dead to sin. Your old man has passed away, and now you are ready to walk in new life in Christ Jesus!

How do we walk in newness of life? We are new creatures in Christ Jesus. We are told in Ephesians 4:24, “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” How do you walk in newness of life? You put on the new man. How do you put on the new man? You get your mind renewed with the Word of God. You get transformed.

You and I must begin to walk like Jesus walked, and we do that by being doers of the Word.
