SHOW YOUR FAITH
Luke 5:24-25 But that you may know that the Son of man has power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto you, Arise, and take up your couch, and go into your house. And immediately he rose before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
This is the account of a lame man and the four friends who had brought him to Jesus to be healed. When they got to the house where Jesus was teaching, there was no room, so they went up on the roof. This was no small thing. They had to get a man on a cot up onto the roof. They then took off the tiles from the roof. Imagine Jesus up teaching and there is this commotion over His head. I know, personally, that it is easy to get distracted by people coming and going when I am preaching. While Jesus was preaching, the Word says the power of God was present to heal, so the anointing was there in the middle of all this commotion. I don’t know what was going on, but I see Jesus smiling and thinking, “Finally, someone is going to get healed in this room.” The room was filled with Pharisees and doctors of the law when, suddenly, these regular guys decide their friend is getting healed and they lower him through the roof. What a commotion that must have been while Jesus kept on teaching. The Word says that Jesus saw their faith. He saw that their belief had caused them to do something. If you are going to tear off a roof, you better be in faith. Then, in front of all these Pharisees, Jesus said to the man, “Your sins are forgiven.” Jesus also said it was just as easy to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” as to say, “Rise up and walk.” That helps us today. Many believe their sins can be forgiven but don’t know if they can rise and walk. You can and should have both. They tore off the roof and the man got up when Jesus told him to but make no mistake, the four friends and the man initiated this healing because Jesus saw their faith. If He can see their faith, He can see your faith, so just do it!
