OBEY THE COMMAND
Luke 5:4-5 Now when He had left speaking, He said unto Simon, launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless, at Your word I will let down the net.
When the Lord gives a command of faith, there is nothing left to do but obey that exact command. There is no more talking about it. There is no contemplation necessary. What Jesus said to do will happen if we cooperate with that command of faith. Peter showed us his mental anguish when he said, “We have fished all night and there is nothing there.” Some people might have thought that his words were that of unbelief and would cancel what the Lord had said, but in this case, they seemed to be a statement of fact of what had happened. And Peter didn’t stop there. The miracle happened because of Peter’s next words, “Nevertheless, at your word I will let down the net.” You don’t have to deny facts in order to be in faith. Facts can be changed by your faith. So, what you say next is important; and then, what you do about what Jesus has said to you through His Word, or by the Holy Ghost is the most important. Because Peter did what Jesus said, we know the incredible results were two ships so full of fish that they were sinking. That is a lot of fish. Have you ever seen a ship with so many fish that it began to sink? I have not. One net and two sinking boats. That is a lot of fish. How did it happen? It’s because Peter did what Jesus told him to do. How will our lives change? It will change when we do what Jesus tells us to do!
