I PRAY FOR YOUR LOVE

Philippians 1:9 (AMPC) And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight [that your love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment].

The subject of walking in love is one of the most vital subjects of the New Testament. The two greatest commands Jesus gave are to love the Lord and love your neighbor. He said that all the law and prophets hang on those two laws. It is interesting that the Spirit of God would ask us to pray for someone’s love walk. One would think that it is totally up to each individual believer to walk in love; and, of course, you are the one who must do it because no one can do it for you, not even the Lord. We know that if we don’t walk in love, it will hinder our prayers, our faith, and our relationship with the Father, and with others.

Walking in love and understanding the love of God is vital to our walk with God. The Word even says that perfect love cast out all fear. Love is powerful and it is so important to us. The Word says that the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost. With all that being said, God has also asked us to pray for those who seem not to be able to do this on their own. It is so vital that He asked us to give our supply of the Spirit to those who are weak in walking in love. Paul, by the Holy Ghost, prayed for others, and we can pray for others too that their love would abound, that it would flourish, and that it would be in the forefront of their lives. He also prayed that it would develop to its fullest.

We know that every born-again believer has the ability to love because God is love. We know that if we really love God, we will love our brothers and sisters in Christ, and we won’t hate anyone. So, He said to pray that their love would grow. We can pray for people that as they hear the Word of God on the subject of love, they get it, that their spiritual eyes are opened. The Holy Ghost is also saying to pray for others that their love would be on display, that it wouldn’t be shallow but have a greater depth. When the love of God is on display in people’s live, that means it is front and center. You and I know people who struggle in their love walk. Instead of shaking our heads and saying, “Will they ever learn,” let’s pray for them. Let’s pray that their love would abound more and more, and that their love would develop and be on full display.
