SERVANTS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, you became the servants of righteousness.
We have been made free from sin. We have been delivered from the penalty of sin. The one and only reason is because of what the Lamb of God, the Son of the Living God, the Creator of all things did. Jesus became sin. The one who never sinned took our sin. More correctly, Jesus became our sin. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” Notice it doesn’t say, He took but that He was made sin; all of mankind’s sin was put upon Him. He became sin and because He did that, He can also make you righteous. You are not growing in righteousness; when you were born again, you were made righteous. He was made sin so that you could be made righteous. We need to have revelation of our righteousness so we can walk in it every day. We must be righteous conscious and not sin conscious. We used to serve sin; it was our nature. Birds fly, fish swim, cats meow, and dogs bark, and sinners’ sin because it is their nature. But you have a new nature; you have been made righteous. We no longer serve sin but now we are servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:16 says, “Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” We have to make up our minds that we are servants of righteousness. We must become obedient unto righteousness. We must do what verse 17 says and obey from the heart, from our born-again spirit that has been made righteous. We don’t have to sin anymore. Although you are under grace, if you receive grace correctly, it will teach you not to sin. One of the ways it teaches you not to sin is by becoming obedient to the Word of God and by listening to the Holy Spirit every day so He can guide you away from temptations and help you not serve sin and yield to your flesh. We can yield our members, our entire body to the Lord by offering it up daily as a living sacrifice. Our mind, our hands, our feet, our mouth, and everything about us can and should be yielded unto righteousness, which just means doing and being right with God or acting just like Jesus did when He was on the Earth. I know, I know, you are not Jesus, but His Spirit lives in you and He became your sin so you could walk in His righteousness. Let’s do it!
