Salvation

Hebrews 2:3 “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.”

Having a revelation of what my salvation is and all that it includes would be the first one on my list. Soteria is the Greek word for salvation, and it is an all-inclusive word. The Bible warns us not to neglect our salvation. Hebrews 2:3 says, “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation.” So, we are not to neglect our salvation, and we are to find out all that has been made available to us when we receive salvation.

First, let me say, salvation is a person, and His name is Jesus. It is the will of God that all men be saved, according to 1 Timothy 2:4, which goes on to say that all men are to come to a knowledge of the truth. One of the greatest truths is all that salvation includes.

Before we enjoy all that salvation is, let’s remind ourselves how salvation comes. Ephesians 2:5-8 clearly tells us that salvation is by grace and comes to us by faith, by trusting in Jesus because it is a free gift. Romans 10:9-10 tells us the things we must believe and do before we receive salvation. We must believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He was raised from the dead. Then, we must have that belief in two places: in our heart and in our mouth.

Most people understand the new birth part of salvation, where we miss hell and make heaven, but I want you to clearly know that this is just the beginning of your salvation.

Salvation (soteria) means rescue, safety (physical or moral), deliverance, health, save, and ongoing salvation. The Greek word for "save" is sozo, which means to deliver, protect, heal, preserve, save, do well, and be made whole. Even in the Old Testament, the Hebrew word for salvation (yasha) means to be open, wide, or free; to be safe; to bring salvation; to save; and to get victory. Wow! Our salvation is all-inclusive.

We are delivered! 2 Timothy 4:18 says, “The Lord will deliver me from every evil work.” We are protected! 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV) says, “But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” Psalm 91 is all about our protection. Protection is yours because it is part of your salvation.

We are rescued! Jesus rescued Peter as he was sinking. In Matthew 14:30, Peter literally cried to the Lord, “Sozo me!” and that is exactly what Jesus did, and it is exactly what He will do for you and me today.

We are healed! 1 Peter 2:24 clearly tells us that Jesus took stripes for us so that we would be healed. Because He took our infirmities, and He bore our sicknesses and diseases, we are saved from them.

We are meant to do well! It is part of our salvation to do well in life. Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord will make you rich and add no sorrow to your life.” Galatians 3:13-14 tells us, “Jesus became a curse for us, so the blessing of Abraham would come upon us.”

We are made whole! God cares about you, your total person. He has made you whole, spirit, soul, and body (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

Your salvation is all-inclusive, so enjoy and walk in all of it. Jesus paid a high price for us to be saved, so we should receive all that He has for us.
