He Made Us Holy
Ephesians 1:4 “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.”
What does it mean to be holy? It means to be hallowed, consecrated, or set apart to a sacred use. It is the state of being holy, having purity and integrity or moral character, being free from sin and sanctified.
The first thing we must be very clear on is holiness is not a work but a position in Christ. He chose us to be in Him; and because we are in Him, we have been made holy. From this revelation, we can then walk out our holiness.
The Lord has made us holy, presentable to the Father, because of His blood and His body through His work on the cross. Colossians 1:22 (AMPC) says, “Yet now has [Christ, the Messiah] reconciled [you to God] in the body of His flesh through death, in order to present you holy and faultless and irreproachable in His [the Father’s] presence.”
Jesus made us holy. He did it, and now we can boldly proclaim, “I am holy because He who is holy made me holy.” It is not our acts or works that make us holy. And once you believe and have a revelation of this, from your position in Christ, you can now act it out and be holy.
1 Peter 1:15-16 (NLT) says, “But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, ‘You must be holy because I am holy.’” You will be able to walk out, on a daily basis, the holiness that has been given to you by the Lord Jesus Christ by simply walking out who you are.
You are holy, and holy people act holy. They do the Word, they act like their Master, and they act like Jesus would act. Birds fly, fish swim, pigs wallow in mud because it is their nature. You have a new nature, and it includes being holy.
Holiness is so important. Hebrews 12:14 says, “Without holiness you can’t see the Lord.” I want to see Him, and you do too, so we boldly say we are holy, and we will walk in that holiness.
