Day 09 | communion

He Took My Place

Day 9 of At His Table reflects on one of the most personal truths of the gospel: Jesus took our place. Looking back to the Old Testament sacrifices in Leviticus and connecting them to Christ's finished work on the cross, today's devotional reminds us that what animal sacrifices could only temporarily cover, Jesus accomplished once and for all through His perfect sacrifice.

Drawing from 2 Corinthians 5 and 1 Peter 2, this message emphasizes that Jesus—who was completely without sin—willingly took upon Himself our guilt, shame, and punishment so that we could be made righteous before God. His broken body and shed blood weren't offered in a general sense; they were given personally for each one of us.

As you take communion today, pause to remember the incredible exchange that took place at the cross. Christ bore what we deserved so we could receive what only He could give. This devotional is a powerful invitation to respond with gratitude, worship, and renewed appreciation for the Savior who willingly took our place.
