Day 08 | communion

The Pinnacle Of Jesus' Assignment

Day 8 of At His Table centers on one of the defining characteristics of Jesus' life: His unwavering obedience to the Father. While it's easy to assume that Jesus simply knew what to do because He was God, today's devotional reminds us that He lived as a man who intentionally chose, day after day, to submit His will to the Father's. From His daily ministry to His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus consistently demonstrated what it means to say, "Not my will, but Yours be done."

Through scriptures like John 5 and Isaiah 53, this message reflects on how Christ's obedience wasn't always easy—it ultimately led Him to the cross. Yet His willingness to fulfill the Father's plan, even at the greatest personal cost, made our redemption possible. His life stands as the perfect example of trusting God completely, no matter the circumstances.

As you take communion today, consider how Jesus' obedience opened the way for our salvation and revealed the Father's heart. This devotional also offers a personal challenge: what might God accomplish through us if we pursued His will with the same daily surrender that Jesus modeled?
