MY SHEPHERD LEADS ME
Psalm 23:1–2 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”
This Psalm is amazing in showing how the Lord guides us in our lives. First, He is a Shepherd, and a shepherd watches out for the sheep. A sheep has no natural protection against a predator. They are dinner for anyone who can get to them, a wolf, a lion, or a bear, the Bible mentions.
The Lord has protected us from our enemy by defeating the devil through the cross and His resurrection. Because the Lord is our Shepherd, we are provided for, and we do not have to be in want. Jesus, as our Shepherd, is leading us. Where is He leading us? There are green pastures and still waters for us to get to. First, the still waters are specific for sheep because they do not drink out of running water. Then, there are the green pastures, which represent our feeding. The Lord is wanting to take care of us, His sheep. He is Jehovah Jireh, our provider.
The deal is this, you have to follow Him in your life every day to get to the green pasture and still water; it is not automatic. We cannot be stubborn sheep because He will not make us follow Him. John 10:3–5 tells us we are His sheep, and we know His voice. He leads us and guides us; and if we follow Him, we will be taken care of and come to a wonderful place in our life.
Confess today, “I am His sheep, and I know His voice.”
