JESUS THE INTERCESSOR

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

There is only one man who could mediate between humans and God, the man Christ Jesus. Because of the sin of humanity, because of what happened in the garden of Eden, man was separated from God without a way back.

At the moment that separation happened, God had a plan that involved His very own Son, the Word of God. Jesus would have to be the go-between. When Job got in trouble, he declared to God, “I have no daysman.” He did not have a go-between. He knew he needed someone to put one hand on God and one hand on him and put them together. That is exactly what Jesus did as our intercessor. Jesus would have to be our mediator, our go-between, our intercessor.

Isaiah 53:12 says, “…and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” Jesus is our intercessor. He not only took our place and bare all of our sin, sickness, and poverty, He made intercession for us and gave us access to the Father. He is not only Jesus’ Father, but He is our Father too.

Remember, Jesus told Mary after His resurrection, “Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”

Because Jesus made intercession for us, we have a Heavenly Father.
