Get with Jesus
Acts 4:13 “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”
There is no other thing that can replace time in God’s presence. There are ways to spend time with God, obviously, by coming to church, reading your Bible, praying, worshipping, but how good are you and I at just waiting in His presence? Really! Just being with Him, not asking for anything and not just putting in your time or doing your duty.
How do you get there? You can do it through the avenue of the Word, prayer, and worship, but you can take it a step further and minister to Him and let Him minister back to you. Yes, it can be like a conversation.
Isaiah said, “Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” There is a waiting, a place of exchange, that we must get good at with the Lord. It is the relationship part of what we do with Him.
When we spend time in God’s presence that comes upon us, we will not only carry His presence with us on the inside, but it will also linger on the outside. Jesus is our great example. Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus going away by Himself to commune with the Father, many times before or after something big was happening.
He showed us this pattern, that if He, Jesus, the Son of God, needed to do this, then we too need to spend extra quality time with our Heavenly Father. Get away. Shut yourself in a room. Do it regularly! God will be waiting for you!
