Press on
Philippians 3:14 “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
The finish line of our life is the Judgment Seat of Christ; that is the finish line where you get the prize, a crown. So, it seems to me the mark Paul is talking about is that finish line because it is the only place for a believer to receive the prize that has to do with their calling.
Everyone is called to do something. Everyone has a destiny and a race to run for God. Everyone has a plan that was given to them in their mother’s womb.
What do we have to do to get there? One thing we must do is press. To press is to move forcefully towards an object or a goal. If you have to press to get there, then you have to go through some opposition.
What is the opposition that we face? It is the devil and all his ploys and devices, time, people, and just life upon the Earth. Everyone has things to overcome. No one gets through life without obstacles, but there are those who learn to press in spite of them. They learn to press through with faith, fight with the sword of the Spirit, and keep on running their race.
They never stop running no matter what. They understand that this life comes with two options: (1) Look back and never move forward, or (2) Press on, fighting the good fight and just keep running.
Don’t ever let the devil convince you to quit running your race. We must be determined and keep on pressing through anything and everything the devil sends our way. See yourself in the Spirit just moving through obstacles, people, situations, and any trap the devil puts in your path. I am pressing through to the finish line because I can see my crown, and I am going to put it at Jesus’ feet.
