Wait on the Lord
Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
It says, “Those who wait.” That word “wait” means to bind together and to expect. So, while we are waiting, we are being bound together with the Lord. We are in faith, in confident expectation. It is not a passive waiting. It is not a do-nothing waiting. It is ministering to the Lord. It is receiving from Him. What happens when you truly wait on the Lord? He renews your strength. This is like an exchange. We give God what we have, and He gives us what He has. We give Him our weaknesses and receive His strength, His power, and His ability.
This waiting and exchanging, or renewing, causes us to receive strength, so we can do something. We are able to mount up, walk, and to run. The exciting thing is that if you do it in the strength of God, you will run and not grow weary, and you shall walk and not faint. In our own strength, we cannot do it, but in God’s power and strength, we can do it and keep on doing it. What do we know? If we are weary in well doing, we are doing it in our strength. If we are tired of serving and helping people, then we are doing it in our own strength. If work exhausts us, if people exhaust us, if life exhausts us, you get the picture, we are doing it in our own strength. There is a cure. Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. Spend some time with the Lord ASAP!
