HEAVENS OPENED
Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the Heaven was open.
It is interesting that the Father had Jesus do this. Jesus had committed no sin and didn’t need to be personally baptized for repentance. This was the beginning of doing these things as an example to us, doing things that were for us. As Jesus was praying, Heaven opened. That phrase has always caught my attention. Let’s look at Heaven being opened up and what that means for us.
First, the next verse tells us that the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus and then the Father spoke about Him, saying, “This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.” I don’t think we have to pry or pray Heaven open because of what Jesus has done, but I think we, too, should expect the same things to happen for us as did for Jesus when He was a man who walked the same Earth that we do. We should expect the Spirit of God to be poured out upon us on a regular basis, both in group and individual settings, like on the day of Pentecost. We should be full of the fire of God and see the same results that Jesus said after the Holy Ghost had come upon Him. We should also expect to hear from the Father just like Jesus. I am not saying to expect a booming voice from Heaven, but because Heaven is open to you and Heaven has moved inside you as a born-again believer, expect God to communicate with you on a regular basis.
What else does Heaven being open look like? Other mentions in the Word give us examples of what happened when Heaven opened. In Revelation 4:1, John saw a door standing open. Throughout the Word of God, you see such words as doors, windows, and portals describing entryways into Heaven. A door does keep some people out, but it also lets some people in. I believe you and I have access to all that Heaven has. The doors, the windows, and all the portals are open to you and me. What happens when these entryways to Heaven are open? We receive angelic help according to John 1:51. According to Malachi 3:10, the windows of Heaven are open to pour you out a financial blessing. In 2 Kings 7:2, it again mentions windows and financial blessing. In Psalm 78:22-24, we see the doors of Heaven open and manna flows down to the Earth.
Heaven would like to get you what you need and what you want. It’s just another attempt from the Holy Spirit to let you know that you have access; Heaven has been opened. It is not closed up over us as children of God, so receive what you need today!
