ACCESS!
Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
“By whom” in this scripture makes this an “in Christ” reality, things we have because of who Jesus is and what He has done. We could never get to God on our own. It is only through the finished work of Jesus Christ that we have access. Because of Jesus, we have so many things available to us. When you see the words “in Him,” “through Him,” “by Him,’ “in Whom,” etc., they tell you what now belongs to you in your position in Christ; but you still have to use faith to access these things.
Faith is the vehicle from which we receive all that God has for us. We believe what He says in His Word and then, act upon it. This access is like a door that you must walk through. Remember, Jesus said He was the door in the Gospel of John. This access is available, but you must open it with your faith. One of the things we can use our faith to access is standing grace. Standing grace causes us to win over the wiles of the devil. We are told to stand against the wiles, or the weapons of the enemy, (Ephesians 6:11) by putting on the whole armor of God. We are also told to withstand and stand against the devil. This grace is a power that comes from God to stand against and resist those fiery darts sent by the devil.
Remember what Jesus told Paul, “My grace is sufficient.” His grace is needed to stand against and withstand any attack of the devil. When we, by faith, get access to God’s standing grace and use that grace to defeat the enemy, we will see the glory of God, which is the presence of God. Using our God given authority brings glory to God while we operate in the grace of God. The Word teaches us that when we go through what the devil sends our way, and we win, it produces a weighty glory in our lives. In other words, what the devil means for our destruction, God turns around and it produces the presence of God in our lives, and this victory brings glory to God.
No wonder today’s scripture tells us to rejoice! When you are in a confident, joyful expectation about something, it will definitely change your disposition. When you are expecting and not doubting about the outcome of a situation, you will be able to truly rejoice. If you really know the outcome, you can be joyful about it before you see it. It is like someone making you a promise about something. If you really trust that person and they are good to their word, you are glad about the promise they have made, even before you see it. How much more so from a God who cannot lie and cannot fail?
