FILLED WITH FRUITS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
Philippians 1:11 (AMPC) May you abound in and be filled with the fruits of righteousness (of right standing with God and right doing) which come through Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), to the honor and praise of God [that His glory may be both manifested and recognized].
Isaiah 32:17 says, “And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.” We can pray for those who are born again that they would have a revelation of their righteousness and would produce fruit. What is the fruit of righteousness? It is the display of the truth that we know we are righteous. We were made righteous; we did not earn it. You are as righteous as you are ever going to be the moment you got born again, but the fruit of righteousness can grow when your understanding and revelation of your righteous position increases. Because you are righteous, you have peace with God and the peace of God. Isaiah, looking forward to us who are righteous, said that righteousness shall be peace and an assurance. When you have an assurance and peace with God, it will show up in your life. We can pray for others that they would be filled with the fruit of righteousness; that is peace.
We see this fruit of righteousness mentioned as well in Hebrews 12:11 which says, ‘Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” We know that when the Lord corrects us, it is because He loves us, and I am glad He loves me. When He stops correcting you, then you have a real problem! When we act upon His correction, it produces a peaceable fruit of righteousness. Again, we see peace mentioned. One way for someone we know to get peace is for us to pray that they would receive the correction of the Lord and make the adjustments needed in their heart and in their life. When they do, it will produce a fruit of righteousness that will then produce peace in their life.
James 3:18 also talks about the fruit of righteousness and peace. It says, “And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” This is referring to the different kinds of wisdom. The wisdom of the world is sensual and devilish; and, unfortunately, that is what most people walk in, including Christians. There is another kind of peace available and that comes from Godly wisdom. When someone prays for and walks in this Godly wisdom, something happens. With God’s wisdom, the peaceable fruit of righteousness shows up on the scene. Walking in the wisdom of God will sow fruits of righteousness and peace.
Pray for someone today who needs peace in their life. Pray they would realize that they are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and that they would have a revelation of their righteous position. Pray that the fruits of righteousness would be on display in their life. Not only will this bring the glory of God, but it will also cause the manifested presence of God to show up when we begin to show forth the fruit of righteousness, which has a lot to do with peace.
