MORE THAN A CONQUEROR!

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Right before this famous verse of scripture, Paul was rehearsing, by the Holy Ghost, some of the tough things he had been through. In Verse 35, the statement he made was, “Who shall separate us from the love of God?” That tells me that all the troubles, the temptations, the harassment the devil is sending our way come to pull us away from the love of God. One thing we know from the book of Revelations, where the Lord dealt with the church in Ephesus, is that we are not to walk away from our first love. The ability to freely love God is one of the most important things to our Creator, and the devil knows it. So, the enemy will continue to do what he has always done and try to send the same type of things that he sent to Paul. What were they? They included sending suffering, affliction, tribulation, calamity, distress, persecution, hunger, destitution, peril, and sword. That is quite a list. Any one of these can be used to turn you from God. If you don’t understand that these things come from the devil, any one of them can make you wonder, make you depressed, and make you throw in the towel. The devil may not keep you from Heaven, but he is determined to bring the same things to you that he brought to Paul to make you draw back from God. Don’t do it! Keep going to today’s famous verse and keep believing because it is the answer to all those nasty, devil inspired things. I like how the Amplified Classic starts this verse, “Yet amid all these things…”. What things? All the things listed in Verse 35, tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, or sword. In the middle of all that nastiness from the devil, this is what I have to know. Jesus conquered the enemy for me. Jesus stripped the devil of the keys of death. The Lord Jesus made a show of the devil openly (Colossians 2:15). Jesus was raised up from the dead after destroying the power of the devil. Ephesians 1 says the devil and all his cohorts are under the feet of Jesus. We, too, have been raised up far above all principality and power and every name that has been given a name (Ephesians 2). Jesus said that all power in Heaven and Earth was His, and He authorized us to go in His name (Matthew 28) and gave us His name to use. At the name of Jesus, everything has to bow in Heaven, on Earth, and below the Earth (Hell) (Philippians 2:10). That is why, amid all these things the devil may throw at you, you can identify with Jesus and His work, and you can clearly see that you are more than a conqueror. Jesus won the victory for you. He did the work; He won the war, and He gave you the victory over the devil and all the devil’s works. You are more than a conqueror! Say it! Proclaim it! Walk in it!
