1 Samuel 10:26 “And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.”
Saul was anointed to be king, the leader of Israel. They had never had a king before because God was their King. For this to work, King Saul was going to need help. No one can do what God has anointed them to do on their own.
It is like our physical body. God made our body so all our parts would work together. Our physical parts are interconnected and work best when everything is at optimal function. The same is true with the Body of Christ. For a church or ministry to be functioning properly, everyone has to be in place, serving the Lord and, therefore, serving each other.
In the Kingdom of Israel, Saul was to be the only king. In other words, he was given the highest position, but he was not going to be able to accomplish all God had for him to do without help. Therefore, God touched the hearts of the people who were to help him.
I will say, if you ever think, “God has not touched my heart to serve anywhere,” then you are blocking something in your heart. God has touched us all to serve somewhere. You are a vessel of honor, and you are meet for the Master’s use.
What can I do? God made you for a purpose. All you have to do is ask or just begin somewhere until God redirects you to a specific place. If you are unsure, you can confess some of the Scriptures that I have been giving you on serving God and then just ask the Lord. I know He will speak to your heart and guide you. He wouldn’t leave you out of something so important, especially since He has a special reward that He would like to give you.
Let the Lord touch your heart. If you have never served, just ask the Lord to minister His love to you to serve someone.
I will address this as well. Sometimes, people don’t serve because they feel they have been abused, overused, and flat-out taken advantage of. That is not true serving, and sometimes people have unintentionally hurt you because so many people will not take their place. Ask God to forgive them and you for taking offense, and then get your heart healed.
Jesus is the mender of the broken heart, so ask Him for fresh oil and to give you the heart of a servant again. You might even tell someone, “I want to do this again, but I am working through some hurts; can you help me?” Any good leader who has the heart of a servant will love you and walk you through it. However, don’t use it as an excuse or a crutch not to serve.
The Lord wants to touch your heart to serve in His Kingdom, so let Him!
