New Vessels

Jeremiah 18:4 (AMPC) “And the vessel that he was making from clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he made it over, reworking it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make it.”

I think the first application is, thank God, we can be born again. We can be reworked by the Potter (Heavenly Father). We can be given a new heart, which, by the way, is what they call the inside of a clay pot (the heart of the vessel). When we ask the Lord to forgive us of our sin, and we receive Jesus as Savior and make Him Lord of our life, it is then that we have been reworked by the Potter.

I also believe this has to do with our lives. Even if things did not go right because we didn’t obey, and our life (our clay vessel) wasn’t looking so great, we can still get back on the Potter’s wheel so He can remake us. When we are remade by the Potter, He makes each vessel for a purpose, a defined use.

Ephesians 2:10 says that the Lord has designed each one of us for good works, or for our purpose in life. You cannot find your purpose in life without finding out God’s purpose for your life. I think the sooner in life people embrace what the Creator created them to do, the less frustrated they will be. So many believers are struggling, and one of those reasons is because they have not found their place in the Kingdom of God. I’m not talking about preaching. I’m talking about who God made you to be.

I really like what God told Israel about King Cyrus, and it applies to all of us. Isaiah 45:9 (NLT) says, “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’”

God, our Father, is the Potter, and we are the clay. It is time to embrace the wonderful person He intended you to be and the purpose for which you were created.
