The High Calling of God in Christ Jesus

Philippians 3:14 (KJV)

“…for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

What is the mark? It is the finish line. What is your finish line? I believe the finish line is not Heaven, but the judgment seat of Christ. It is where believers receive their rewards for their obedience on the earth.

The prize is the crowns you receive for your obedience to God while you were on the earth. Salvation is a free gift, received by faith through grace in the finished work of Jesus, but there are good works you and I are supposed to do while we are on planet Earth. If you and I do not obey the plan of God for our lives, we will not receive rewards at the judgment seat of Christ.

There is a place in Revelation where the elders lay their crowns before the feet of Jesus in worship. I believe those of us who obey will also have the same opportunity. The only place I see to receive a crown as a believer is at the judgment seat of Christ.

Make up your mind: I am going to obey God while I am on the earth, and I will have something to lay at Jesus’ feet. I will move forcefully toward the mark—the judgment seat of Christ—in order to get the prize, a crown, based on what I am called to do in Christ Jesus.

Let this be your mission in life: total obedience to God.
